Mbabane – The Hyena Motorcycle Club brought early festive cheer to the Mawelawela Women’s Correctional Centre in Mbabane after donating essential items to inmates and their children ahead of Christmas.
The donation, delivered this week, included soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dignity towels, diapers, toys and NAN children’s formula to support the daily needs of women and babies housed at the centre. About 50 bikers participated in the visit, which drew excitement and visible appreciation from inmates.
The handover was attended by His Majesty’s Correctional Services Commissioner General LaMakhosini Phindile Dlamini, Deputy Commissioner General Phindile Glory Sibandze, Mawelawela officer in charge Mamoshoeshoe Ntsane, as well as senior officers and staff.
Commissioner General Dlamini expressed appreciation to the Hyena Motorcycle Club for its continued support to correctional institutions, noting that the group has partnered with HMCS on several occasions. She said such visits carry particular value during the festive season, when inmates feel the absence of their families more deeply.
The outreach also drew participation from other motorcycle clubs, including All Legends from South Africa, Swazi Boys MCC, Criminals MCC, +268 MCC and Rogue Riders, reflecting cooperation among biker groups in community initiatives.
Inmates described the visit as uplifting, saying the interaction and donated items brought comfort and encouragement during a period that can be emotionally difficult.
After the Mawelawela visit, the bikers proceeded to Vulamasango School for a Family Fun Day, where they engaged with learners and encouraged them to focus on their education, maintain discipline and make positive life choices.
