Mbabane – Siphiwokuhle Ndlela delivered a bronze medal for Eswatini at the ANOCA Youth Games after finishing third in the women’s plus sixty eight kilogram kyorugi division, as the Kingdom closed its taekwondo campaign ranked eighth overall among thirty African nations.
Ndlela’s run on the mat came against some of the continent’s strongest junior fighters, with Tunisia and Ethiopia taking the top two places in the division while Senegal settled for fourth. Her podium finish boosted Eswatini’s medal count and reflected steady improvement in the sport at continental level.
The result placed Eswatini eighth in the overall taekwondo standings at the Games, a notable outcome considering the size and quality of the field. Officials said performances across several weight categories contributed to the final ranking and showed growing consistency among the young athletes.
Team officials pointed to disciplined preparation, athlete resilience and committed coaching as key factors behind the showing, adding that the Games offered vital international exposure for the country’s emerging fighters.
