Siphofaneni – The Minister of Natural Resources and Energy, HRH Prince Lonkhokhela, visited the Phuzumoya Strategic Fuel Reserve Facility (SFRF) yesterday to assess progress on the national fuel security project.
The inspection, held under the Siphofaneni Constituency, brought together senior government officials, project stakeholders. The SFRF is expected to provide 80 million litres of fuel storage, enough to cover at least 60 days of the country’s fuel needs, and is intended to strengthen Eswatini’s ability to withstand global supply disruptions.
During the visit, the minister outlined the importance of keeping the public updated as the project moves forward and noted the Government’s ongoing oversight of the development.
According to project officials, several key works have already been completed across the 25-hectare site. These include full site fencing, topsoil stripping in major construction zones, borehole drilling, and grading of the access road, which has also been widened at the entrance.
Excavation for the first four tank foundations is finished, while work on the next phase has already started. The platform for the site office and batch plant has also been prepared, with gravel filling and compaction completed.
