Mbabane – Executive Secretary of the International Media and Communications Organisation (INMACOM), Ms Sindy Mthimkhulu, outlined the progress and future plans of the regional body, detailing key milestones in its strategic development.
Speaking in a video message, Mthimkhulu said she was grateful for the mandate granted by INMACOM’s three member states to lead the organisation. Upon assuming the role, her immediate focus was on accelerating execution of existing initiatives and building on groundwork laid prior to her arrival.
“We were no longer looking for excuses about being a young institution. The goal was to execute and reach our objectives,” she said. Mthimkhulu described efforts to create a supportive work environment, including reviewing policies, motivating staff, and filling capacity gaps necessary to manage the demands of three member states.
She cited the Jeff Project as a pivotal resource, enabling INMACOM to engage personnel over the next five years. “The aim was to organise the environment so staff could lead programs effectively and align with our agenda,” Mthimkhulu explained.
The executive secretary also focused on strengthening collaboration with technical experts across member states. Task teams were empowered to lead projects, ensuring harmonised delivery and informed decision-making at regional meetings.
A recent strategy review, conducted over two days with these task teams, allowed INMACOM to break down its agenda, define strategic approaches, and align on a forward-looking plan. At an end-of-year meeting with commissioners, Mthimkhulu presented the organisation’s roadmap for achieving its strategic objectives and establishing measurable processes for progress monitoring.
