A pensioner from Cape Town is celebrating a windfall of more than R13 million after securing the Powerball Plus jackpot from the 19 November 2025 draw.
Ithuba confirmed that the ticket was bought at a retailer in Bergvliet, a suburb where many Swati nationals often shop when visiting the Western Cape. The winner spent R70 on the ticket and chose his numbers manually.
The married father, who regularly plays twice a week, told Ithuba that he relies on birthdates of his loved ones when selecting his numbers. He said Lotto has long been his preferred game, noting that his previous wins were small amounts compared to this one.
He described the victory as life changing and shared plans to buy a car. He added that he intends to use the bulk of the money to strengthen his retirement while treating his wife to some shopping.
Ithuba chief executive Charmaine Mabuza congratulated the winner and said the organisation is thrilled to welcome another South African into the ranks of multimillionaires.
