JOHANNESBURG – Questions swirled among supporters as Kaizer Chiefs took to the FNB Stadium pitch against Siwelele FC on Wednesday without co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef on the bench. After the 0-0 draw, head coach Cedric Kaze moved swiftly to explain the Moroccan’s absence, reassuring fans it was unrelated to football matters.

“Khalil attended a personal matter in Morocco and he’s coming back tomorrow” Kaze confirmed following the match.

The Glamour Boys delivered a disciplined display, controlling possession and creating several scoring opportunities. Yet, a persistent inability to finish left them without a goal for the fourth consecutive game, extending their frustrating winless streak across competitions.

Despite the setbacks, Kaze remained focused on the positives, praising the team’s defensive organisation and overall consistency.

“Our biggest challenge is scoring goals, but we are not leaking goals at the back. We’re working hard and the performances are consistent,” he said.

Chiefs showed improved tempo in the second half, suggesting the technical team’s tactical adjustments are taking hold. However, finishing remains a critical issue, with missed chances continuing to deny them victories.

With Ben Youssef set to return, Kaze and his staff will be eager to sharpen the attack and convert opportunities in upcoming fixtures, aiming to end the club’s winless run and satisfy the expectations of their passionate fan base.
