Ezulwini – Football in Eswatini is set to benefit from an unprecedented financial boost as MTN Eswatini renews its Premier League sponsorship with a three-year deal worth E22.5 million, up from last season’s E6.5 million.
This E16 million more sponsorship deal was announced on Wednesday at MTN head offices in Ezulwini with Chief Executive Officer, Wandile Mtshali stating that the funding will support player development programmes, club infrastructure, and community engagement initiatives over the next three seasons.
Acting Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, urged football leaders to match the scale of the investment with professionalism and integrity.
“This is a historic moment for Eswatini football. Let your leadership reflect the trust and confidence that MTN has placed in our league,” he said.
Mtshali highlighted the wider impact of the sponsorship.
“This is more than numbers—it’s about creating opportunities for players, clubs, and communities. Football now drives local business, inspires youth, and strengthens national pride,” he said.
Premier League of Eswatini Vice Chairman Sithembiso ‘Ngudze’ Mamba welcomed the increased sponsorship, calling it “a turning point for our league.” He added, “the jump from E6.5 million last season to over E22 million ensures that clubs can invest in their players, improve facilities, and compete at a higher standard. It also allows us to reward excellence through new initiatives, including a ‘Young Player of the Season’ award.”
