NEW YORK – Cabinet ministers have described His Majesty King Mswati III’s speech at the 80th United Nations General Assembly as both impactful and timely.

Commerce, Industry and Trade Minister Manqoba Khumalo said the King’s proposal for the UN to establish ad hoc committees to address global crises was a fresh approach worth serious consideration. He noted that the King’s insistence on Africa’s inclusion in the UN Security Council was aligned with the collective position of African leaders.

Khumalo added that the King’s remarks reflected Eswatini’s economic strides toward achieving Agenda 2030, while also presenting a realistic assessment of the challenges facing the international community. He said the address was warmly received by delegates, particularly the call for Taiwan to be reinstated in the UN system.

Agriculture Minister Mandla Tshawuka supported Khumalo’s view, stating that the King delivered a speech befitting his stature and wisdom. He said His Majesty reminded the world of Eswatini’s consistent reliance on dialogue as a tool for peacebuilding, while urging the UN to adopt inclusive policies that give developing nations stronger support.
