Mbabane – Minister of Public Service Mabulala Maseko has called on Public Service Pension Fund stakeholders to make their own decisions on the proposed conversion of the Eswatini National Provident Fund into a pension scheme. He spoke at the PSPF 6th annual stakeholder engagement held at The Hilton Garden Inn on Thursday.
Maseko said the ministry’s position remains focused on protecting the hard-earned savings of public servants. He noted that PSPF has operated for 31 years with full transparency and has nothing to hide during his term in office.
Addressing participants, Maseko welcomed stakeholders warmly, reflecting on the previous forum held on 26 September 2024. He described the annual stakeholder meetings as critical in shaping strategies and interventions that directly respond to the needs of fund members. He praised the continued commitment of participants as a testament to the importance they place on accountability, dialogue, and collaboration in safeguarding public servants’ welfare.
The minister deliberately avoided taking a stance on the ENPF conversion, encouraging members to deliberate and make their own resolutions on the matter. He said the forum serves as a genuine space for partnership and constructive exchange between the ministry and stakeholders.
Maseko also marked the fund’s 30-year milestone last year, noting its growth and impact. He reminded members that contributions are shared between employees and the government, with each contributing 20 percent of the basic salary to ensure the fund’s sustainability.
He concluded by expressing appreciation for the participants’ dedication and active engagement in shaping the future of the public service pension system.
