The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has launched a manhunt for a 27-year-old woman wanted in connection with an alleged attempted murder and kidnapping incident reported in Mbabane earlier this week.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Nonthethelelo Ncamsile Nkambule of Luhlendlweni, is being sought following an incident that allegedly occurred on April 13, within the Mbabane area. Nkambule is the Treasury General of Swaziland Youth Congress. Authorities have not yet released full details surrounding the circumstances of the alleged offences but confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
In a public notice issued on April 15, police appealed to members of the public to assist with information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest. The law enforcement agency urged anyone who may know the whereabouts of Nkambule to come forward and report to the nearest police station or use the contact details provided in their official communication platforms.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged of a police operation conducted earlier on the same day in Mbabane, where officers allegedly searched the home of a senior citizen believed to be linked to the suspect and one of the founders of the People’s Democratic Movement party. According to information circulating from activist circles, the senior citizen was questioned about Nkambule’s whereabouts during the morning raid.
However, police have not officially commented on the reported operation, and its connection to the ongoing investigation could not be independently verified at the time of publication.
“The Royal Eswatini Police Service is appealing to anyone who may have information that can assist in locating the suspect to urgently contact the police,” reads part of the statement.
While unconfirmed reports circulating on social media have linked the suspect to political structures, the police statement makes no reference to any political affiliation, focusing solely on the alleged criminal charges under investigation.
Nkambule is described as a resident of Luhlendlweni, though additional identifying details have not been publicly disclosed.
Anyone with credible information is advised to contact the police immediately. Investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
