Maseru – Prime Minister Ntsokoane Samuel Matekane officially opened the 2025 Sebabatso Conference on Monday with a call for young people to embrace patience, respect, and honesty as tools for building wealth and transforming Lesotho.
The gathering, held under the Sebabatso programme, brought together youth, innovators, and entrepreneurs from across the country to explore ways of driving development through innovation and enterprise.
Reflecting on the nation’s journey over the past two years, the Prime Minister said Lesotho’s economy is steadily becoming a source of hope, crediting Sebabatso for its role in sparking change among the country’s youth. He described the programme as more than just a government project, calling it a movement that provides young people with space to cultivate ideas and transform them into thriving enterprises.
“The future of Lesotho lies in the hands of innovators,” Matekane said, adding that Sebabatso has become an engine of hope, lifting Basotho to new levels of progress.
According to him, the initiative has been central to supporting entrepreneurship, giving young people the confidence to dream bigger and act boldly. Through its resilience-driven approach, Sebabatso has inspired a new generation of entrepreneurs while contributing to the growth of local businesses.
Matekane urged all sectors to continue backing programmes that nurture innovation and create opportunities, saying such initiatives were key to shaping an inclusive and prosperous future for Lesotho.
