Mbabane – His Majesty King Mswati III says Eswatini and Zimbabwe are united by a shared vision for a prosperous and self-reliant Africa. The King was speaking last night during a State Banquet hosted in honour of visiting Zimbabwean President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Addressing guests, His Majesty said the two countries are bound as sister nations that share cultural pride and the goal of sustainable development. He noted that both economies, anchored in agriculture and supported by natural and human resources, stand to benefit from closer cooperation in areas such as agro-processing, manufacturing and renewable energy.

The King further explained that Eswatini’s Tinkhundla system of governance, rooted in tradition and centred on community participation through forums like the Sibaya People’s Parliament, reflects the country’s belief that democracy must be inclusive, peaceful and guided by cultural context. He said these principles mirror the shared aspirations of indigenous governance that link the two nations.

On climate change, His Majesty noted that Eswatini and Zimbabwe face similar challenges of erratic rainfall, droughts and floods, despite contributing little to global greenhouse gas emissions.
