MBABANE — The Ministry of Health is fast-tracking plans to overhaul the Central Medical Stores (CMS) by creating a semi-autonomous entity to improve the management of medicines and medical supplies across the country.
Today, the Ministry, together with the consultancy firm Partnership for Improving Supply Chain Management in Africa (PICMA), is hosting a validation workshop to review the Blueprint for the new entity, which is expected to operate as a parastatal.
The workshop brings together key stakeholders from government ministries, the Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (ESPPRA), and the Royal Science and Technology Park (RSTP). Their task is to examine the Blueprint carefully to spot any gaps, confirm its relevance to Eswatini’s healthcare needs, and assess the practicality of the proposed actions.
This follows a previous validation exercise of the draft Eswatini Medicines and Supplies Supply (EMSS) Transformation Bill held on April 30, where stakeholders involved in the country’s medical supply chain contributed to refining the legislation.
