Mbabane – A 40-year primary school teacher, Samkeliso Dvuba, was on Monday sentenced to five year prison term without the option of a fine.
Dvuba of Esitjeni area who faced the charge of contravening the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act of 2018 by unlawfully kissing the 13-year pupil appeared before Principal Magistrate Fikile Nhlabatsi for his judgement today.
When he last appeared in court on April 29, 2025, he was convicted of sexually abusing a 13-year-old pupil by kissing her on March 20, 2024, but nothing could have prepared him for the verdict today.
Standing still in front of the magistrate when his judgment was read to him, Dvuba remained still, with his head facing down.
Among her reasons, Nhlabatsi told Dvuba that he neglected, failed and ignored his parental duties to the child during school hours, exposing her to grooming for sexual acts.
After the reading, Dvuba was assisted by the court officers by having his fingerprints taken. He was then escorted by officers from His Majesty’s Correctional Services outside the courtroom, loaded into a van and taken to a correctional facility.
