Mbabane: Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) has embarked on a campaign dubbed #VaccinateToVakasha, which is aimed to encourage emaSwati to get vaccinated so that they can freely enjoy visiting the beautiful places across the Kingdom.

This happens at a time when the country has opened vaccination to everyone in the country who is above the age of 18. Most countries are gearing to vaccinating people to reach herd immunity so they can the economy can reopen.

The tourism sector is one of the sectors which were hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. With the successful national roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine, the reality of once again opening the country’s borders to regional and international tourists is becoming easier to embrace. This is why the Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA) is urging all EmaSwati to respond optimistically, enthusiastically, and swiftly to the call to get vaccinated through the #VaccinateToVakasha campaign.

ETA is encouraging EmaSwati to get that jab and grab the opportunity to access unlimited adventures and create unforgettable experiences in Eswatini, safely. The message for the campaign is very clear and incredibly necessary – vaccinate today so you can Vakasha tomorrow without risking your health and the safety of others.

The Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 Daily Info Update reports that as of Wednesday 3 September 2021, 168,703 people are now fully vaccinated which equates to 14.4% of the population. These numbers indicate that very soon, EmaSwati will get to demonstrate their revived love for the Kingdom of Eswatini’s diverse tourism offerings to guests from different corners of the world.

As evidenced by the avid appetite for domestic travel-induced in EmaSwati by the domestic tourism campaigns that we have been running since last year, it wouldn’t be presumptuous to imagine that the exponential increase in domestic tourists means that a large portion of the country’s population has been converted into proud ambassadors and knowledgeable tour guides of the country.

While the COVID-19 pandemic presented several devasting events, tragic losses, and serious threats to our ability to continue promoting Destination Eswatini to the world, it also unveiled to EmaSwati the chance to connect with the country’s diverse establishments, pristine natural surroundings, thrilling outdoor activities and creative craftsmanship from products made by talented local artisans.

From this, Eswatini can anticipate that vaccinated tourists who are going to start flocking through our borders in the next couple of months, are in for a remarkable treat for they will not lack the availability of well-informed guidance and tips on what to do in Eswatini.

The ministry of health has continued to encourage emaSwati to get vaccinated to allow the opening of most sectors of the economy which includes tourism.

Global travel trends show that there may come a time where we will all be required to present vaccine certificates in order to access tourism products, as well as to leave and enter the country’s borders.
