Mbabane: Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini has announced new eased COVID-19 restrictions under Adjusted Risk Level 2 beginning on Thursday midnight. The eased restrictions include the revision of the curfew to 9pm- 4am, shopping hours to 6am-7pm and the extension of restaurant operating hours to 8pm.

Other eased restrictions are on alcohol sales, which will now be Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm for home consumption only and two worship services a week, both under strict COVID-19 health protocols.

The premier stated that Night Clubs, night vigils, and memorial services remain prohibited. All other measures as captured in Risk Level 2 remain the same.

He stated that the Ministry of Commerce will enforce strict adherence to these new restrictions through the withdrawal of licenses to all contravening businesses.

The premier urged emaSwati to continue exercising extreme caution as the COVID-19 measures are eased. “This is not a license to be complacent but a challenge to all of us to do what is right for us and those we come into contact with on a daily basis.”

Dlamini further announced that the vaccination rollout exercise has reached more emaSwati and residents of this Kingdom. He thanked the efforts by the Ministry of Health and all stakeholders involved in the vaccination campaign.”

He noted that the number of fully vaccinated emaSwati was now approaching the 200 000 mark and encouraged all eligible citizens and residents to get vaccinated, not only as a means of protecting their lives but also to protect their loved ones.

Worth noting is that the country to date has cumulative cases currently standing at 45 178 and 1 190 recorded deaths. Despite the threat of the COVID-19 virus in the country and the world over There has been a noticeable reduction in the number of new cases over the past weeks, from about 1000 cases per day to slightly about 100 cases per day.
