Mbabane: The Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga on Monday received a courtesy call from the newly elected President of the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Peter Simelane.
Bulunga met Simelane, who was in the company of EFA CEO Frederick Mngomezulu, at the Ministry’s offices in Mbabane.
According to the Ministry’s Communications Officer, Sibongseni Zondi, the meeting touched on a variety of issues including strengthening collaboration between the Ministry and the EFA, the development of football in the country, national teams’ performances, and the rehabilitation of Somhlolo National Stadium, among others.
During the meeting, the Minister of Sports congratulated the newly elected president Simelane for winning the EFA elections. The minister further assured him that they will continue to support the EFA as we work towards developing football and all sport in the Kingdom and we hope that all other stakeholders within football will do the same.
Bulunga highlighted the need for EFA to play a stronger role in the development and nurturing of football talent across the country, saying such developments are key in sustaining the progress of the country’s National Teams. He also congratulated the President on the recent good performances of Sihlangu and expressed our desire to see this being used as a stepping stone for sustained progress across all football national teams.
Reacting on the meeting the EFA president stated that they were happy to have met the Ministry and to have had fruitful discussions and shared good ideas. “We stand ready to always receive the Ministry’s guidance and direction and we look forward to continued, regular engagements as we continue to work together to develop football in the country,” he said.
