Mbabane: A true friend of Eswatini.
Taiwan has donated 30 000 COVID-19 rapid test kits to Eswatini Government.
Receiving the donation was Health Minister Lizzie Nkosie. Making her remarks when receiving the donations the Minister of health Lizzie Nkosie said “On behalf of His Majesty’s Government, I would like to thank Taiwan for this donation”. Nkosie said the kits will be distributed to the test kiosks placed around Mbabane as a hotspot and thereafter rolled out nationally. She said as a nation, we need to stick to the prevention measures so that we can manage the virus.
Taiwan Ambassador Jeremy Liang highlighted that no country is immune from the second wave. “Everyone should strictly follow the health guidelines. This is what Taiwan has been doing since the pandemic started. Team work between the people and Governments will curb the virus.”
This is not the first time Eswatini receives donations from Taiwan aimed to help Eswatini fight the corona virus pandemic. Since the beginning of the pandemic Taiwan donated protective clothing (PPE), Medical supplies, Rapid test kits amongst other things to help Eswatini in the fight against COVOD-19.
According to the COVID-19 Global data as at January 12, 2021 4pm, the pandemic has infected over 91.4 million people worldwide. Eswatini continues to experience the second wave of the coronavirus amid rising numbers of confirmed cases. Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi announced 276 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, January 11, taking the country’s total cases to 11 711, with three (3) new deaths recorded totaling soaring to 297.
