PM Mandvulo died the same week as his firstborn daughter’s graduation

Mbabane: The late Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini passed on the same week of his firstborn daughter Nosipho’s graduation.

This was revealed by Dlamini’s daughter Nosipho during her father’s memorial service held at Jesus Calls Worship centre on Christmas Eve. Nosipho said she will forever admire the way their loved their mother. She said all my dreams were valid in his father’s eyes and she will miss their debates and their father’s humour. “It’s sad that you had to pass on the week that I graduated. I love you so much daddy, rest in peace.”

Nosipho was graduated from the United States of America where she obtained her MBA.

Meanwhile his father, Ambrose Dlamini graduated from the University of Eswatini and obtained an MBA at Hampton University (USA).

Dlamini worked in the banking sector for more than 18 years, including as managing director of Nedbank from 2003 to 2010. From 2010 to 2018 he was the CEO of the telecommunications company MTN Eswatini, part of the South African MTN Group. In 2017, he approved the company’s sponsorship of the MTN SWAMA Awards, a ceremony held by the Eswatini Arts and Music Association (SWAMA).

On 27 October 2018, King Mswati III announced in a gathering at the royal kraal at Lobamba that Dlamini would be the country’s next prime minister after the 2018 elections; he would succeed Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini, who died the previous month. At the time, Dlamini had no prior experience in government. He was the youngest head of government in Eswatini’s history.  

The late PM passed died on December 13, 2020 while receiving treatment in South Africa. The late PM succumbed to COVID-19 related illness as he was confirmed positive on November 15.

Tenele, the second daughter to PM said his father had such a pure heart. “I will miss when we would play touch before bed, your contagious laugh & when we’d play cards together.”

On another note the late PM’s wife Dumile Dlamini whose message was read on her behalf by Pastor Zandile Twala thanked her husband for his commitment to thier marriage. She said doing life with Dlamini (late PM) was a privilege. She said she knew she was of paramount importance to Dlamini as he called her many times during the day just to check on her.

“I will never forget you Nkhosi. Even in death, you stand head and shoulders above any man I have met. I will always treasure the gift that you were. Ngiyakubongela Nkhosi for you have kept the faith and finished the race. I will miss you dearly.”

Zodwa Dlamini (for siblings): “Our Kingdom has lost a great & righteous leader.”

Apostle Bheki Thwala, who spoke on behalf of the late PM’s in-laws described Dlamini as someone who distinguished himself by always maintaining a positive attitude.
