Mbabane-Nsingizini Hotspurs will be without key player Mkhonto when they begin their title defence against Moneni Pirates at Somhlolo National Stadium on Saturday.
The MTN Premier League champions will have to start their 2026/27 campaign without one of their important players after Mkhonto was ruled out through suspension.
Mkhonto is set to serve the remainder of a two-match suspension carried over from last season, meaning he will miss Saturday’s league opener against Moneni Pirates at Somhlolo.
The suspension comes as an early setback for the champions as they prepare to launch their title defence.
Nsingizini Hotspurs, who enjoyed a successful campaign last season, will now have to find a way to cope without Mkhonto as they face a Moneni Pirates side also looking to make a strong start to the new season.
Mkhonto is not the only Premier League player affected by suspensions carried over from the previous campaign.
Mbabane Highlanders will also be without Delisa Gama, while Mbabane Swallows are set to miss the services of Mancoba Vilakati.
Green Mamba will similarly begin the campaign without Mxolisi Manana, with the player also serving a suspension.
The suspensions mean several top-flight clubs will enter the opening fixtures having to reshuffle their squads before a ball is kicked in the new season. For Nsingizini, however, the immediate focus will be on Saturday’s clash against Moneni Pirates and how they can negotiate their opening match without the suspended Mkhonto
