Mbabane: The United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2021-2025 has been signed by the Prime Minister of Eswatini Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini, paving the way for its implementation over the next five years effective January 2021.

The signing of the Cooperation Framework was witnessed by the UN Resident Coordinator Nathalie Ndongo-She alongside with senior Government officials.

Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini says the United Nations is one of Eswatini’s most trusted and most loyal development partners.

The PM was speaking during the signing ceremony of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2021-2025 worth E1.4 billion.

The Framework defines how the UN system will support the implementation of Eswatini’s priorities outlined in the National Development Plan, Strategic Roadmap, Vision 2022 and Post COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan for the next five years.

“We are grateful for the 52 years of impactful partnership between the Kingdom of Eswatini and the United Nations – a relationship that is built on trust, collaboration and commitment to the people of Eswatini,” said Dlamini.

PM said the gathering signifies the country’s re-commitment to the people of Eswatini and the world, as they to achieve Agenda 2030 and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Agenda 2030 serves as a blueprint for peace and prosperity for all people in the world.

Prime Minister said it is through the country’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Cooperation Framework, to be signed today, that we will make a reality of Agenda 2030 and His Majesty’s Vision 2022. The Framework represents the globally shared vision to end poverty, reduce inequalities, tackle climate change and enable sustained economic growth.

“Indeed, the United Nations remains one of our nation’s most trusted and most loyal development partners. Throughout our 52 years of collaboration and productive partnership, we have witnessed impactful development progress in the Kingdom,” said Dlamini.

“Today, we are reassured of the thriving partnership between the Kingdom of Eswatini and the United Nations. I can say without fear of contradiction that we are ready to continue working in collaboration to achieve a better future for all.”

UN Resident Coordinator Nathalie Ndongo-She said this Framework is a symbol of the United Nation’s continued and deep commitment to the people of Eswatini. The framework is founded on three principles; prosperity, people and the planet.

“We reiterate our commitment to serve the people of Eswatini and to collaborate with Government to see transformation and development,” said Nathalie Ndongo-She.
