MBABANE – Eswatini’s hip-hop scene is receiving another jolt of energy as Bab’ Dlamini, now also known as Big Facata, unleashes the remix of his hit single Shimpilika this coming Friday.
The remix follows the release of the original Shimpilika, a collaboration with rapper Sean Cast HQ, which was released in February 2026.
For the new version, Bab’ Dlamini has expanded the track into an all-star collaboration featuring Oriiginelle, Grixxly, MCO Jamrock, ThaifoSon and Ncwiki Flex, bringing together different styles and personalities from Eswatini’s hip-hop fraternity.
The release marks another significant step in Bab’ Dlamini’s transition from a DJ and producer into a recording artist. Born Sonke Dlamini, the Mbabane-based creative began his musical journey as a producer in 2022 before moving into deejaying in early 2023. He initially created beats for local artists using Virtual DJ before progressing to professional DJ equipment and performing at local events.
His breakthrough as a recording artist came with Zazazel, his debut single featuring Amarii and Mad Uno, released in March 2025. The song blended hip-hop, Afrobeats and Amapiano while introducing the viral “Zazazel” dance craze.
Shimpilika, released in February this year, became his second officially listed single and featured Sean Cast HQ. The remix now represents another milestone in a rapidly developing catalogue.
Beyond recording, Bab’ Dlamini has established himself as a DJ, podcaster and content creator, becoming increasingly visible within Eswatini’s entertainment and creative space. His DJ career has seen him perform at various entertainment venues across the country, while his podcasting has further strengthened his connection with the local entertainment community.
The Shimpilika Remix also comes at a time when the artist is enjoying increased attention following his performances and growing influence among young music fans.
With three releases now associated with his name and a growing list of collaborations, Bab’ Dlamini appears determined to prove that his journey extends far beyond the DJ booth.
An accompanying music video for the remix is also expected, adding another visual chapter to his expanding artistic journey.
