PIGGS PEAK— The Hhohho Regional Festival has officially been confirmed for this weekend in Piggs Peak, marking the next stop in the ongoing NACA Regional Awards programme aimed at celebrating excellence and recognising creatives for their contribution to Eswatini’s arts and culture industry.
The festival is scheduled for Saturday at Gobolondlo Hall, with activities beginning at 10am. It will feature performances by nominees, exhibitions from fine artists and designers, as well as other activities designed to showcase the region’s creative talent.
The confirmation was made by NACA Awards Chairman Thamsanqa ‘KrTC’ Sibandze, who encouraged creatives and members of the public to attend the event in large numbers.
“We are looking forward to bringing this important movement to Hhohho this weekend after successfully concluding events in two regions,” Sibandze said.
He also congratulated creatives who submitted nominations under Hhohho, describing their participation as a reflection of courage and passion for the creative industry.
“We encourage all creatives to show up in their numbers on Saturday at Gobolondlo Hall so they can be honoured as part of the awards,” he added.
The Hhohho festival follows successful regional events held in Lubombo and Shiselweni, with the NACA Awards now continuing their journey across the country. After Hhohho, the programme will move to Manzini on August 22, 2026, before progressing to the national awards, where regional winners will compete for prestigious national titles.
Beyond recognition, this year’s NACA Awards are also placing a strong emphasis on developing practical skills within the creative sector.
Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) Chief Executive Officer Stanley Dlamini said the organisation is using the National Music Development Programme (NMDP) to help transform creatives into industry professionals.
Dlamini explained that creatives will not only receive awards and certificates but will also gain practical skills in areas such as sound engineering and music business.
The programme will be coordinated by South African music business consultant Vusi Leeuw, who is expected to lead intensive workshops immediately after the national awards.
The initiative signals a broader focus on building a sustainable creative industry, ensuring that recognition is matched with skills, knowledge and opportunities for professional growth.
As Piggs Peak is preparing to host the Hhohho chapter, the spotlight now turns to the region’s creatives as they gather to celebrate talent, ambition and excellence.
