Matsapha – Royal Leopards Football Club Public Relations Officer Frank Hurube has been promoted from Superintended to the rank of Assistant Commissioner in the Royal Eswatini Police Service, joining a group of senior officers elevated by His Majesty King Mswati III during the 23rd Police Day celebrations.
The promotions, announced at the Police Academy in Matsapha on Friday, form part of efforts to strengthen the police service’s leadership structure and fill vacancies within senior management.
Hurube, who serves both as a senior police officer and the Public Relations Officer of Royal Leopards FC, was among several officers recognized for higher responsibilities within the organization.
Others promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner include Nombuso Ndzabandzaba, who is currently serving in Kenya under Interpol, Superintendent Sikhumbuzo Gwebu and Patrick Mabuza.
The National Commissioner in- Chief of the REPS, HKMII also announced other promotions on the senior assistant commissioner omoted to the Assistant National Commissioner of Police Zanele Nxumalo, Bonginkosi Dlamini, Julius Lukhele, Dumsani Ndlandla, Richard Fakudze, Fikelephi Mtsetfwa, Isaiah Hlatjwako.
Vusimuzi Gama, Zandile Mnisi, Raphael Skheshe Maseko, Thabo Hlophe, Christopher Nduku Lukhele were given positions of Assistant National Commissioner of Police, bringing the overall promotions to a total of 18.
His Majesty said the appointments were intended to reinforce leadership within REPS and ensure the organization continues to operate efficiently as policing demands become increasingly complex.
The King said strong leadership was essential in guiding younger officers, improving service delivery and ensuring that the police remained capable of protecting lives and property.
During his address, His Majesty praised officers for their dedication and professionalism, saying they had consistently demonstrated commitment to safeguarding the nation despite the risks associated with policing.
His Majesty King Mswati III further encouraged newly promoted officers to lead by example, uphold the highest ethical standards and mentor younger members of the service so that they could continue building a disciplined and professional police organisation.
The promotions were announced before thousands of officers, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and regional police chiefs who attended this year’s Police Day celebrations.
