Mbabane: Two (2) more people have died here on home soil after contracting the coronavirus, bringing the death toll to 111.
The Health Ministry said on at 18 new infections were picked up over the past day, pushing the number of known cases in this country to 5500.
On the positive side, the recovery rate has increased to 90.9%, meaning 5000 people have recovered so far and the cumulative number of Active cases now stands at 371.
On another note, there were 34,324,336 confirmed cases globally as of October 1 evening, with 25,539,423 recoveries. Over 1 million people have succumbed to the COVID-19 disease.
Meanwhile, Minister of Health Lizzy Nkosi further conveyed a message to the nation that the COVID-19 curve have picked and now shows signs of decline. However, the coronavirus is still circulating in the country. Nkosi said until a definitive treatment or vaccine for COVID-19 is found, another exponential increase in the numbers is possible if prevention measures are abandoned by the nation.
