MATSAPHA – His Majesty King Mswati III has extended well wishes to His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) Commissioner General LaMakhosini Phindile Dlamini, expressing hope for her speedy recovery following the car accident that has kept her away from official duties.
Speaking during the 18th Correctional Services Day celebrations at the Correctional Services Staff College in Matsapha on Friday, the King acknowledged the absence of the commissioner general, who was unable to attend the event due to her ongoing recovery.
His Majesty said it was unfortunate that the head of the correctional services could not join officers and guests in commemorating the important occasion, which celebrates the work and achievements of correctional officers across the Kingdom.
The King conveyed his heartfelt wishes for her recovery, expressing confidence that she would regain her strength and return to her duties.The remarks drew attention to the commissioner general’s continued absence from public engagements since she was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident in April.
Dlamini sustained injuries after the vehicle she was travelling in was involved in an accident between KaMkhonta and Mvutshini while she was travelling from Lobamba following preparations for national celebrations.
She was subsequently admitted for medical treatment. During his address, His Majesty paid tribute to correctional officers for their dedication, discipline and professionalism in carrying out their responsibilities despite challenges faced in the line of duty.
The King commended the organisation for its contribution to public safety, offender rehabilitation and national development, while also acknowledging the efforts of officers who continue to serve under demanding circumstances.
The commissioner general remains under medical care, with the correctional services previously indicating that they continue to support both her and her family during the recovery process.
