MBABANE – South Africa’s Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Blade Nzimande has thanked the Kingdom of Eswatini for its contribution and support during South Africa’s liberation struggle.
The appreciation was conveyed during a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini at the Private and Cabinet Office on Monday afternoon.
According to information shared by the Government of Eswatini, Nzimande expressed gratitude on behalf of the Government and people of South Africa for Eswatini’s role in supporting the country’s fight against apartheid.
During the meeting, the leaders also discussed strengthening cooperation between Eswatini and South Africa in higher education, science, innovation and information and communication technology (ICT).
Prime Minister Dlamini highlighted Eswatini’s plans to establish a SADC University of Technology and said innovation and ICT would play a key role in the initiative. Both sides agreed to explore areas of partnership and cooperation in advancing the project.
The visit underscored the longstanding relations between Eswatini and South Africa, which were forged during the liberation struggle and continue through bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
