Malkerns: On Sunday at Malkerns Country Club, Dada’s XI clinched the ECA Senior Men’s T20 League- Season 2.

In the final match of the Eswatini Cricket Association Senior Men’s T20 League- Season 2, Dada’s XI played against Pak XI in an exhilarating match. Both teams had an unbeaten record in the group stage matches. The players from both teams featured in the top run-scoring and wicket-taking charts of the league.

Dada’s XI won the toss and opted to bat first with the intention to set a non-gettable target. This is a decision they did not regret since it worked best for them.

Dada’s XI accumulated 149 runs in their full quota of 20 overs.  Openers Mohsin Matadar (39 runs of 25 balls) and Safwan Bagas (28 runs of 30 balls) got off to a very magnificent start. Dada was at 33/0 at the end of the 3rd over. They were ably supported by Minhaj Kulfiwala (31 runs of 20 balls) and Shehzad Patel (31 runs of 24 balls).

On the bowling side, Jawad Muhammad was the highest wicket taker 4/25 in 4 overs.

In the target case, the first over which was a maiden proved that Pak XI had a tough task in hand to reach the target. The second and third over was a nightmare for Pak XI.

At the end of the third over, troubled Pak was at 9/3. Adil Butt tried to resuscitate the batting innings enabling his team to get dangerously closer to the target. The 4th over yielded to 26 runs. Adil Butt finished at 54 runs of 18 balls in the eighth over.

The only successor who was able to reach a double figure was Asif Khan who got 23 runs of 29 bulls. Magnificent bowling by Mohsin Bhariya (4/22 in 4 overs) and Tahir Matadar (2/5 in 3.5 overs) saw the bottom 3 Pak XI’s batsman getting out on duck. Pak XI was all out in the 17th over with 113 runs on the board falling 36 runs short to reach the target.

Classy Dada’s XI won the match by 36 runs and were crowned champions of the ECA Senior Men’s T20 League- Season 2.
