Mbabane: Royal Eswatini Police Services (REPS) National Commissioner William Ntsintsibala Dlamini has announced a reward of E50 000 for anyone who can assist in finding the missing corpse of a Tanzanian woman Gladness Kimaro Edje.

Dlamini made this announcement on Friday through a statement where he announced the reward for anyone who can proffer information that can may lead to the whereabouts of the missing body of the Tanzanian woman.

The corpse went missing at The National TB Hospital at Moneni about two weeks ago. Since the matter was reported to the police services, the law enforcement launched an investigation which has been fruitless for almost two weeks now, hence the force decided to offer the E50 000 reward.

Dlamini said anyone who might have information should not hesitate to contact Director General Crime Detection Services Sam Mthembu on 7606 2316, Manzini RCBO- Superintendent Thabo Hlophe on 7605 3045 or Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Phindile Vilakati on 7606 2312. Alternatively, anyone with the information can call the police emergency line 999/9999.

The late Tanzanian woman died of COVID-19 related illness early August 2020 while undergoing treatment at Manzini Clinic. Her body was then transferred to The National TB Hospital. The corpse was brought to the morgue of the government health facility as it is the only designated one for keeping bodies of people who have died due to the coronavirus related complications. Times of Eswatini reported that a few days after the corpse was brought to the facility, a group of unknown men came to the centre and claimed the corpse to be of their own.

However, as days passed, another family showed up over the past weekend at the hospital seeking to collect the corpse of their loved one and lo and behold, there was no body to collect.
