MBABANE – Government has stepped up efforts to attract foreign investment after Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini met a delegation of potential investors from Japan on Wednesday during a scoping visit to the Kingdom.
The delegation comprised representatives from Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Unicharm Corporation, two major corporations exploring possible business opportunities in Eswatini.
Toyota Tsusho operates across multiple sectors including automotive, machinery, energy, chemicals and consumer products, while Unicharm manufactures personal care and hygiene goods such as baby products, feminine care items and adult incontinence supplies.
The visit follows a recommendation by Tolaram Group, a partner of Kellogg’s that has maintained operations in Eswatini for about five years.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed optimism that the companies would consider establishing operations locally and assured them that Government would provide full support throughout the investment process, from initial planning stages to aftercare services once projects are operational.
The visiting team was led by Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo and included Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg, Chief Executive Officer of the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority Sibani Mngomezulu, as well as senior officials from EIPA and Kellogg Tolaram.
