Mbabane: The PSL Arbitration led by Advocate William Mkhari ruled that Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa be banned from football for two years in one of the most dramatic cases in South Africa’s football history.
Subsequently, his club Mbombela United were docked a whopping 23 points. Despite surviving the relegation chop on the last day of the season, Tingwenyama went down to the ABC Motsepe League following the ruling.
Now, the reasons for the heavy punishment, which is accompanied by E450 000 fine for the club have been unearthed.
Apparently, the striker signed a contract with fellow GladAfrica Championship side TS Sporting on May 24, 2019 before penning yet another agreement with Mbombela in June 2019. This are findings by the Mkhari arbitration. Mkhari famously ruled on the Tendai Ndoro case in 2018 that resulted in Ajax Cape Town being docked seven points as they were relegated to the NFD.
Contacted for comment, PSL prosecutor Nande Becker indicated to KickOff.com that the verdict has already been reached and Mbombela boss Oupa Matsebula might be swimming upstream in challenging the ruling.
“I recommended that a press release be prepared last night, so my hands are tied. It was urgent last night, it’s even more urgent now,” Becker says.
“I can tell you that the matter is finalised, the finding is in, and the sanctions are there as well. He [Matsebula] can do whatever he wants, if they are not recognising the verdict that’s a nice one.
“You can’t switch off your computer and your cellphone and then say something didn’t happen hey. But he never told us [that Sunday’s sitting was short notice], did he?”
It was not the first time Mbombela were caught on the wrong side of the law this past season as also in November 2019, they docked two points for failing to field the mandatory three under-23 players in their starting line-up.
