Ezulwini – Learners across the Kingdom of Eswatini have been invited to take part in the 2026 ESCCOM High School Short Film Competition, a national initiative aimed at nurturing creativity, storytelling and digital skills among young people.
The competition is being implemented by the Eswatini Communications Commission in partnership with the Eswatini National Commission for UNESCO and the FNB Eswatini Foundation. It targets high school performing arts students from all four regions of the country and is open to learners with an interest in acting, filmmaking and storytelling.
The programme seeks to give learners a platform to creatively engage with social, cultural and environmental issues affecting their communities, while strengthening digital and media literacy skills. It is also aligned with UNESCO’s values of inclusive and equitable quality education, freedom of expression, cultural diversity, human rights, gender equality, peacebuilding and sustainable development.
Participating schools are required to submit a one minute short film that is original and written by students. The film must present a complete story with a clear beginning, middle and end, and should reflect the creativity and talent within the school. Entries must not exceed 60 seconds and should demonstrate good audio and visual quality.
Films may be produced in siSwati, English or sign language, and schools must ensure that learners have permission from a teacher before submitting. The use of inappropriate content is prohibited, and entries must be original, with plagiarism or copied work not allowed.
Completed videos should be submitted via email to broadcasting@esccom.org.sz by 20 February 2026. Schools and learners seeking further information may contact ESCCOM on 2406 7000 or via info@esccom.org.sz. Additional details are also available on www.esccom.org.sz.
