MBABANE – Eswatini music promoter and social media personality, Wandiswa Dlamini, popularly known as Maweseli, has released her debut single titled “Ubobuyekhaya,” featuring local artist Wess June Ten.
The artists said the track would be released later today, Friday, January 30, 2026 and will be available on major digital platforms including Spotify, Apple Music (iTunes), Amazon Music, YouTube, and Deezer.
At just 24 years old, Maweseli has already built a strong name for herself as one of Eswatini’s leading music promoters, using her powerful social media presence to uplift and market local talent. Now, she is ready to tell her own story through music.
Speaking about her journey, Maweseli said her love for singing started at a very young age.
“I’ve always loved singing and I dreamed of having my own music since I was a child. I used to sing all the time at home and even annoy my family with it,” she shared. “But due to limited resources and family reasons, I couldn’t pursue music back then, so I focused on supporting other artists until someone decided to groom me.”
She says making music has helped her gain confidence and embrace her true self, adding that music that comes from the heart connects deeply with listeners.
Through her work as a promoter and her active presence on social media, Maweseli has managed to connect with many influential figures and artists in the industry, who have played a key role in spreading her music and brand.
Her sound is best described as Afro-pop blended with traditional elements, and her songs mainly carry messages of love and emotion.
“There was a moment when I realised how much people loved Maweseli and how willing they were to support her. That’s when I decided to step up and take music seriously,” she said.
Transitioning from being known mainly as a promoter to becoming an artist has not been without challenges.
“Some people are still trying to figure out what I’m doing now,” she admitted. “I’m still balancing both worlds, but my music is now my priority.”
She added that while not everyone immediately understood her move, support is steadily growing.
Maweseli draws inspiration from South African rising star Naledi Aphiwe, though she remains focused on staying true to her own identity and sound.
“Ubobuyekhaya” marks the beginning of what she promises will be an exciting musical journey, with more collaborations already in the works.
“This is just the start. More music is coming, I’m still cooking,” she said.
Sharing advice to upcoming artists and creatives, Maweseli encouraged them to work on themselves first.
“Work on your mind, your art, and start treating yourself like a brand before you go big. Some mistakes can follow you for a long time and even close doors, so be careful and intentional.”
With her strong fan base, industry experience, and passion for music, Maweseli’s entry into the recording scene is expected to make a strong impact. All eyes are now on ‘Ubobuyekhaya’, as she officially begins this new chapter in her career.
