Mbabane – STANLIB Asset Management Eswatini has appointed seasoned financial services executive Mongi Dlamini as its new Managing Director.
Dlamini’s appointment, effective 1 April 2026, signals STANLIB’s intent to sharpen its competitive edge and reposition the business for long-term expansion, particularly at a time when Eswatini’s asset management industry is facing increasing competition, regulatory sophistication, and growing client demand for innovative financial solutions.
Widely regarded as a digital banking and transformation specialist, Dlamini joins STANLIB following a nearly nine-year tenure as Chief Executive Officer of Letshego Financial Services Eswatini, where he led one of the most significant institutional transformation journeys in the local financial sector.
Under his leadership, Letshego Eswatini modernised its operating model, strengthened risk management and governance frameworks, expanded its digital footprint, and enhanced financial inclusion. One of his most defining achievements was securing a digital banking licence from the Central Bank of Eswatini, positioning the institution to compete in the digital-first financial services era.
In announcing the appointment, STANLIB Eswatini Chairman Jerry Mnisi said the board was confident Dlamini would deliver strategic clarity and operational excellence.
“Mongi brings a proven track record in leadership, transformation and value creation. His experience in banking, asset management and executive leadership places him in a strong position to steer STANLIB Eswatini into its next phase of growth, innovation and enhanced customer service,” Mnisi said.
With nearly two decades of experience in financial services, Dlamini’s career spans senior roles in banking, asset management and corporate leadership, including earlier positions at Standard Bank Eswatini and African Alliance, where he built a solid foundation in investment management and capital markets.
His appointment comes at a critical time for STANLIB, as the firm seeks to grow assets under management, broaden its product offering, strengthen institutional and retail client relationships, and deepen its role in mobilising long-term savings to support national development.
The STANLIB Managing Director role carries responsibility for setting and executing corporate strategy, driving revenue growth, strengthening governance and risk management, fostering a high-performance organisational culture, and advancing product innovation and market expansion, according to the post vacancy released last year.
Worth noting, Dlamini holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree from the University of Eswatini and is a graduate of the GIBS Executive Leadership Development Programme, credentials that underpin his strong financial and strategic leadership profile.
