Mbabane – The Commission of Inquiry into the affairs of the Hlathikhulu Town Board has officially concluded its work, with the final report formally handed over today to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Appolo Maphalala.
The submission marks the end of a comprehensive investigation initiated by the Ministry to establish facts, address governance concerns, and restore public confidence in the operations of the local authority.
Commission Chairperson Zandile Mkhwanazi-Dhlamini, accompanied by members of the Commission, presented the report following months of investigations and stakeholder engagements in Hlathikhulu. The inquiry examined the administration and management of the Town Board, as well as issues raised by the community and other interested parties.
In handing over the report, Commissioner Mkhwanazi-Dhlamini expressed gratitude to members of the public and stakeholders who participated in the process, noting that their cooperation and input were critical to the credibility and integrity of the inquiry.
“The Commission appreciates the openness and support shown by the community and all stakeholders throughout the investigation,” she said, adding that public participation strengthened the fact-finding process.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Appolo Maphalala, said the Ministry will now study the findings and recommendations contained in the report, in line with due process. Maphalala noted that the Ministry’s next steps will be guided by principles of accountability, integrity, and sound urban governance.
