Persistent heavy rainfall continues to disrupt football activities across Eswatini, forcing multiple associations and clubs to cancel or postpone fixtures and events, with concerns mounting over pitch conditions, player safety, and an increasingly congested calendar.
The Lubombo Regional Football Association (LRFA) on Friday announced the cancellation of all Swazi Track Super League Matchweek 11 fixtures scheduled for January 16–18, citing waterlogged and unsafe playing venues across the region. In a notice to clubs, the LRFA Competition Committee confirmed that the affected matches will be rescheduled, with revised fixtures to be communicated in due course.
The weather impact has extended beyond the top-flight regional competitions. In the mulasport Eswatini National First Division, the scheduled fixture between Mangwanyana and Lozitha Spurs at Mayaluka was officially cancelled on Friday due to inclement weather. Officials indicated that ongoing assessments are being conducted at other venues, in consultation with stadium owners, to determine whether remaining fixtures can proceed. A final decision on other matches is expected later today.
Women’s football has also been hit hard. The Eswatini Women Football Association (EWFA) has postponed the 2025/26 EFA National Women Football League Matchweek 07 fixtures for a second consecutive time. The matches, initially moved from last Sunday because of adverse weather, were again deemed unplayable this weekend due to continued rainfall. The association confirmed that new dates will be announced once conditions improve.
At development level, S.G Nkomish Academy has postponed its scheduled trials, prioritising player safety amid unsafe weather conditions. The academy has rescheduled the trials for next weekend and will communicate further details directly to parents and players through its official social media platforms.
