Mbabane – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy has advanced discussions aimed at easing Eswatini’s power shortages through international cooperation under the TICAD and Korea Africa Energy support programmes.

The talks involve the Minister for Natural Resources and Energy, HRH Prince Lonkhokhela, and Eswatini’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, Ambassador Menzie Dlamini. The meeting followed earlier engagements and focused on identifying energy projects to be submitted for consideration under the two funding frameworks.

A multi sectoral committee made up of officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Eswatini Electricity Company, and the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development presented proposed projects during the discussions. The projects were examined in detail, with attention on their feasibility and potential impact.

According to the ministry, the proposed initiatives are intended to address the country’s ongoing power deficit by strengthening energy generation and supply, while also opening opportunities for technical and financial support from partners involved in the Tokyo International Conference on African Development and the Korea Africa Energy programmes.
