Malkerns – The Standard Bank Luju Food and Lifestyle Festival will run over two full days for the first time in its history when it returns to House on Fire in Malkerns on 1 and 2 August 2026.

Festival organisers confirmed that the eighth edition of Luju will move from a single day format to a Saturday and Sunday experience, responding to rising attendance and growing regional interest in the Eswatini based cultural event.

The expansion means festivalgoers can expect an extended programme of food fashion and music, including more culinary masterclasses led by celebrity chefs, additional fashion runway showcases and a broader Pan African music lineup. The organisers say the move is aimed at giving visitors more time to engage with African cultures while positioning Luju as a full weekend destination for cultural tourism.

House on Fire, working with title sponsor Standard Bank Eswatini, said the decision was informed by the festival’s recent growth. In 2025, Luju attracted more than 10,000 attendees from 26 countries, many of whom travelled into Eswatini specifically for the event. The two day format is expected to offer a more immersive experience for both local and international visitors.

Fashion will remain central to the festival, with attendees encouraged to express African identity and creativity across two distinct days, allowing for different interpretations of the annual Luju theme. Organisers say this approach strengthens the festival’s reputation as a style forward platform rooted in African expression.

Beyond entertainment, the festival continues to serve as an economic driver for local enterprises. During the 2025 edition, 103 small and medium enterprises took part, with 85 percent drawn from Eswatini. These businesses collectively generated more than E2.5 million in sales. The longer festival duration is expected to increase trading hours, foot traffic and income opportunities for artisans, designers and food entrepreneurs.

The festival remains anchored in its guiding philosophy of A Return to the African Future, which calls for a reconnection with heritage while shaping contemporary African innovation. Organisers say the 2026 edition will continue to reflect this vision through its curated food, fashion and music experiences.

Details on tickets, accommodation, travel packages and the full programme will be released closer to the event.
