Mbabane: The number of people who died of Covid-19 went up by two (2) on Thursday, Health Minister Lizzy Nkosi announced.
Manzini region keeps on bearing the brunt as the newly confirmed COVID-19 related deaths are from the region and most of the confirmed cases are from the same region as well.
The two newly confirmed COVID-19 related deaths were of a 78 year old woman, who died while admitted at one of the country’s health facilities. She was admitted on August 2 in an unstable condition. Results sent to the laboratory came back positive of COVID-19.
The second death was a 30 year old woman who died while admitted as a confirmed COVID-19 case on August 5. She had known pre-existing illness.
This brings the cumulative number of deaths to 55,” said Nkosi as she offered condolences and thanked health workers.
The country has now recorded 2 968 confirmed Covid-19 cases, with 55 deaths and 1476 recoveries.

Coronavirus has now infected more than a million people in Africa, but hopes that the pandemic may be peaking in some countries are also leavened by fear of a second wave.
