Matsapha – The Ministry of Agriculture Eswatini, working with development partners, convened a Pre Validation Workshop for the draft Irrigation Master Plan under the project titled Development of Eswatini’s Irrigation Master Plan TCP SWA 3901. The meeting brought together key stakeholders to assess and refine the draft document before it proceeds to final validation.
The workshop was attended by senior government officials, technical experts and partners involved in irrigation and water management. Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Sydney Boy Simelane, addressed delegates during the session, noting the importance of aligning the irrigation framework with national development priorities and the needs of farmers across the country.
The process forms part of complementary support aimed at putting in place systems that will drive the effective implementation of the instrument based Eswatini National Agricultural Investment Plan ENAIP. The irrigation master plan is expected to serve as a guiding framework for expanding irrigation infrastructure, improving water management practices and strengthening resilience within the agriculture sector.
