Ezulwini – Senior officials from government and the media gathered in Ezulwini today for the opening of a three day workshop aimed at strengthening national capacity to deal with disinformation and improve digital transparency.
The session, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, brought together media practitioners and public sector staff who often serve on the front lines of information management. Principal Secretary Sizwe Ntshangase told participants that the programme was designed to equip key communicators with practical tools to navigate the rise of misleading online content.

The training is sponsored by the Embassy of the Republic of China Taiwan. Its support forms part of ongoing cooperation between the two countries following the signing of a memorandum of understanding earlier this year on countering information manipulation.
Minister of Public Service Mabulala Maseko addressed the attendees and warned that public institutions and citizens continue to face increasing cases of online scams, false reports and cyber attacks. He said the workshop offered a chance for those handling sensitive information to strengthen their vigilance.
Taiwan’s Ambassador to Eswatini Jeremy Liang said the partnership behind the training reflects the long standing diplomatic ties shared by the two nations. He encouraged participants drawn from newsrooms and government departments to apply the skills gained in ways that contribute to the country’s development.
