Mbabane – Eswatini’s passport has seen a slight decline in its mobility score for 2025, dropping to 81, which places the country 60th globally on the latest Passport Index. This marks a small dip from the previous score of 82 in 2024, but the Kingdom still enjoys solid global mobility, offering visa-free access to 41 countries.
The Kingdom ranks higher than several African nations, including Namibia (ranked 62nd), Malawi (63rd), and Kenya (63rd), while still trailing behind Seychelles, which holds the strongest passport in Africa.
Eswatini’s passport continues to hold significant value, particularly for its citizens who can access key destinations without the need for pre-arranged visas. The Kingdom’s passport offers convenient travel to a variety of regions, with visa-free access or visa-on-arrival options available to 41 countries worldwide.
In 2025, Eswatini’s passport holds a Mobility Score of 81, granting visa-free access to 41 countries and offering visa-on-arrival entry to 35 countries. For five countries, an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is required, while 117 countries still require a visa in advance. The passport holds a Passport Power Rank of 61, with a world reach of 41%, and Eswatini’s population stands at 1,121,761.
While the drop in the mobility score is noteworthy, Eswatini’s tourism sector continues to thrive, contributing to the Kingdom’s growing global footprint. According to recent tourism statistics, the number of inbound visitors to Eswatini has risen significantly. In 2024, the Kingdom saw a 22.6% increase in tourism arrivals, reaching a total of 84,708 visitors.
Inbound arrivals from African countries grew by 21.7%, with South Africa, Mozambique, and Malawi leading the charge. South Africa, which remains Eswatini’s largest source of tourists, contributed more than 56,000 visitors in 2024, marking a 14% rise from the previous year. Meanwhile, tourism from Europe surged by 42.1%, particularly from France, Germany, and the Netherlands, highlighting Eswatini’s growing appeal to international travelers.
Eswatini’s tourism sector continues to benefit from its rich cultural heritage, diverse wildlife, and stunning natural landscapes, with major attractions like the Hlane Royal National Park and Mkhaya Game Reserve drawing both regional and international visitors.
