Johannesburg — Amapiano vocalist Babalwa M, born Babalwa Mavuso, has re-emerged with a deeply personal new project titled ‘Acquiesce’, marking her first major musical release since stepping back from the public eye.
This comes after the artist is billed for tonight’s Make-up show at Mavuso Trade and Exhibition centre in Manzini, Eswatini.
For months, the singer maintained an unusual silence as rumours surrounding her relationship with producer Kelvin Momo circulated online. Their partnership, once celebrated as one of Amapiano’s most consistent and emotionally rich collaborations, became a topic of public fascination. Babalwa M withdrew from public scrutiny, returning this week with the announcment of the single, Acquiesce, which she describes as a project born from reflection, healing and emotional clarity.
“After a long silence, I’m finally ready to speak again. Acquiesce arrives this Friday. Acquiesce in the quiet art of yielding without losing your power. I poured everything I didn’t say out loud into these songs,” she wrote.“I hope that when you hear them, you feel less alone in your own journey of becoming. Friday, we let it breathe together. Thank you for still being here. All my love, B.”
Known for her warm, steady vocal tone and her graceful, drama-free public persona, Babalwa M has carved a niche in Amapiano as an artist who prioritises intention over spectacle. Her catalogue is marked by calm, emotionally resonant music, a stark contrast to an industry often surrounded by noise.
The fanbase is yet to review Acquiesce, whether the project offers emotional insight into that chapter or simply reflects her journey of rediscovery. Either way, Babalwa M returns with a message delivered in the way she knows best through the music.
