MBABANE – Kotini Kouture had the nineth Market Lounge spotlight hosted at the Albert Millin the past week, bringing a fresh blend of cultural elegance to Eswatini fashion corners.
The small and upcoming business was one of plenty that are making increased business networking a task worth diarising. The vibrant environment of the Market Lounge serves as an important platform for local entrepreneurs and creatives like Kotini Kouture. Kotini Kouture is a high-end fashion house specialising in customised clothing, where each piece is tailored to the client’s personality, taste, and special occasion.
The creative force behind the label is Maureen Massinque, founder of Kotini Kouture, who has captured the attention not only for her design talent but also for her trailblazing achievements. Massinque, a celebrated youngest designer to participate in the New Fashion Programme this year, is cementing her reputation as a promising voice in the region’s fashion landscape.
The business used the Market Lounge’s perfect stage it to connect with new clients and showcase its craftsmanship to a wider audience. Kotini Kouture’s marketing director, Mbali Dlamini, sharing insights, told Independent News of the brand’s philosophy, its creative vision and why they choose to participate.
“Kotini Kouture is basically a high-end fashion brand where we create customized items of clothing. We don’t mass-produce every Kotini Kouture item,” she said. “When you come to us, you tell us your vision, who you are, what you love, and then we create the perfect outfit for your special occasions.”
Dlamini said Kotini Kouture’s appearance at Market Lounge marks an important milestone in expanding their reach.
“We are currently an online store, taking orders through our social media platforms. Being here at Market Lounge is about visibility. We want to bring the brand to the people and say, ‘Hi, we’re here? We want to make clothes for your birthday parties, your weddings, and every special moment you have,” she said.
According to Dlamini, Kotini Kouture’s commitment is quality over trends. Each garment is made to stand the test of time, with craftsmanship prioritised over fast fashion.
A key pillar of the brand’s identity is its dedication to reimagining the fusion of cultural fashion. The director highlighted that Kotini Kouture goes far beyond traditional pieces such as lihhiya, exploring deeper cultural narratives and inspirations. One standout example displayed at Market Lounge was a striking jacket from the Utomba collection, designed in collaboration with J.K.
“It’s not about creating the cheapest clothing, but the best clothing. We don’t want to follow trends, we cater to people who want to be boldly different and extraordinary when it comes to fashion,” she said.

As the brand steps further into the public eye, fans and fashion lovers can expect more bold, culturally-infused, masterfully crafted designs that speak to the heart of individuality.
