Mbabane – Eswatini’s online shopping community is buzzing this week as major global retailers unveil their most aggressive festive-season discounts, triggering a surge in cross-border buying, ahead of this week’s Black Friday.
Amazon has kicked off its extended Black Friday Week running until Cyber Monday on December 1.
EmaSwati using international shipping services and parcel-forwarding platforms are eyeing massive reductions across millions of products.
Amazon’s own devices, including Echo speakers, Fire TVs, and Kindles, are discounted by up to 50%, while apparel and home brands are marked down as much as 55%.
Worth noting, the retailer has also launched Rufus, its AI shopping assistant, helping customers find personalized deals, an added advantage for shoppers navigating the overwhelming volume of specials.
American retail giant Walmart is also drawing significant attention locally, especially from residents who frequently buy through the retailer using US-based delivery partners.
Walmart’s Event 2 Black Friday sale, running from November 25 to 30, features heavy markdowns on tech gadgets, toys, kitchenware, and household essentials. Walmart+ members received early access, a trend increasingly popular with Eswatini’s digitally savvy consumers who seek first picks on high-demand items. A Cyber Monday sale will follow on December 1, promising even deeper online-only savings.
Fashion lovers in the Kingdom of Eswatini are turning to ASOS, which has launched a sweeping Black Friday sale with discounts of up to 80% on select garments. The UK-based retailer remains a favourite among young Swazis thanks to its wide range of brands, international shipping options, and fresh seasonal collections. Shoppers can expect significant markdowns on winter coats, sneakers, beauty products, and partywear—timed perfectly for the festive season.
Meanwhile, Shein continues to dominate Eswatini’s fast-fashion segment, with shoppers anticipating up to 60% off as the retailer rolls out its Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions. Known for its low prices and trend-heavy catalogues, Shein is expected to see high order volumes from emaSwati who rely on regional couriers and local pick-up points to receive purchases.
For many in Eswatini, Black Friday has evolved beyond a single day—it is now a strategic shopping window that unlocks access to goods not readily available locally, often at prices unmatched in the domestic market. As international deals continue to roll out through Cyber Monday, the momentum shows no signs of slowing.
