The Africa Zone VI Regional Anti-Doping Organization (RADO) member countries will this weekend converge in Luanda, Angola, for a high-level meeting focused on strengthening governance and advancing clean sport across Southern Africa.
While Eswatini representative, Pretty Simelane, is among the delegates attending, the broader spotlight is on Angola’s significant role as host and supporter of the regional anti-doping drive. The Angolan government has committed to providing accommodation and meals for all Member Country Representatives (MCRs), a gesture aimed at enabling full participation in what is considered one of the region’s most strategic gatherings.
According to official communication from the Africa Zone VI RADO Office, representatives from across the Zone will assess the 2024 audited financial statements and review the 2025 activity plan. The meeting will also deliberate on the 2026 budget and operational programme, decisions expected to shape the region’s fight against doping over the next two years.
Tomorrow, delegates will shift to a board training workshop that includes finalising the 2025–2028 Strategic Plan, a long-term framework that will guide regional anti-doping actions and harmonise efforts with global standards.
Simelane was expected to arrive in Luanda yesterday and returns home on Sunday.
EOCGA Communications Officer Mkhulisi Dlamini said the gathering reinforces collective commitment across Southern Africa to protect sport integrity and uphold clean competition.
Meanwhile, RADO member nations continue to align themselves with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List for 2025. Substances banned at all times include anabolic agents, peptide hormones, growth factors and insulin-mimetics, while certain stimulants, narcotics, cannabinoids and glucocorticoids remain prohibited specifically during competition.
The meeting is expected to enhance coordination among Zone VI nations as they prepare to implement updated regulations and advance athlete education programmes in the year ahead.
