Great News for Manchester City fans as they have won appeal and Champions League has ban lifted. This means that Manchester City will now play the Champions League next season.

Manchester City’s two-year ban from European football has been overturned by the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS) . According to CNN the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS) overturned the ban and Manchester City name was cleared after charges of “serious breaches” of Financial Fair Play.

UEFA in February had banned City from all European Competitions including the Champions League and had also fined the £25m.

CAS also ruled that the fines imposed on City will be reduced to £10m. It brings to an end their long-running battle with European football’s governing body. It means City will be able to continue its record of nine successive years of competing in the lucrative European Champions League.

City was originally punished by UEFA, European football’s governing body, for “serious breaches” of club licensing and Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations and was excluded from European competitions, including the Champions League, for two seasons.

In a statement Manchester City welcomed the ruling and stating that its legal advisors are yet to review the full ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the Club welcomes the implications of today’s ruling as a validation of the Club’s position and the body of evidence that it was able to present.

“The Club wishes to thank the panel members for their diligence and the due process that they administered”, said City in its statement
