Mbabane – The Taiwanese investment delegation that visited Eswatini from November 10 to 12 has opened new avenues for trade and business cooperation between the two countries.
The group, organized by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, included representatives from Taiwanese companies operating across southern Africa. Their visit follows similar trips by Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung earlier this year, in April and July, during which he led business missions as a presidential envoy.
During the three-day tour, delegates met with Prime Minister Russell Dlamini and attended an investment seminar with Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo, his deputy Melusi Masuku, and Deputy Senate President Ndumiso Mdluli. The delegation also visited the Business One-Stop Shop, the proposed site for the Taiwan Industrial Innovation Park, and several Taiwanese businesses already operating in Eswatini to explore further investment opportunities.
Participating companies represented sectors such as automotive components, construction, cosmetics, garments, textiles, and packaging. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that these engagements form part of Taiwan’s Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project, aiming to deepen economic cooperation and sustainable development with long-standing partners like Eswatini.
Since establishing official relations in 1968, Taiwan and Eswatini have maintained close diplomatic and economic ties, with both countries seeking to expand cooperation for mutual stability and prosperity.
