MBABANE – Eswatini’s volleyball veterans are gearing up for a thrilling weekend as the Masters of the sport take centre stage in a cross-border exhibition showdown. On November 29-30, 2025, the Institution of Development Management (IDM) Hall in Matsapha will host an electrifying clash between Eswatini Masters and their visiting Mozambican counterparts.
The two-day event promises more than just competition. Fans can expect a festival-like atmosphere, complete with live streaming of the fixtures on the Eswatini Volleyball [VB]lore official Facebook page. The first match kicks off at 10am on Saturday. Organisers are encouraging spectators to bring friends and fill the stands, creating the electric buzz that has become synonymous with Eswatini volleyball crowds.
“This tournament is our way of celebrating the legends of our sport and recognising their contribution over the years,” said Eswatini National Volleyball Association (ENVA) President Eric Gama. “It’s about keeping yesterday’s heroes connected to the volleyball family.”
While the tournament is open to unregistered players, the main focus will be on athletes aged 40 and above. Local representation includes Bob Masters, Tigers Masters, RES Masters, and Ecco Water, with hopeful participation from Lesotho and Mozambique, adding an international flavour to the festivities.
Gama hinted that fans are in for a treat, teasing that even the ENVA president himself has some moves left on the court. “Many of our former stars still have something to offer, and spectators should expect plenty of action and surprises,” he added.
Volleyball enthusiasts are urged to mark their calendars for what promises to be a weekend celebrating both skill and the enduring spirit of the game.
