Matsapha – The Correctional Sunrise Ladies Volleyball Team has departed Eswatini to compete in this year’s CAVB Zone VI Club Championship, which runs from 9 to 22 December at the Ngoako Ramathlodi Sports Complex in Polokwane, South Africa. The regional tournament features teams from Eswatini, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Mozambique, South Africa and Angola in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
The squad left from the Correctional Staff College in Matsapha under the leadership of team chairperson and head of delegation Cosmo Dlamini. He used the send off to thank the financial partners that made the trip possible, including Inyatsi Group of Companies, Eclipse, OK Foods, Delta Pay and MulaSport. He also expressed appreciation to Commissioner General LaMakhosini Phindile Dlamini for supporting the team’s participation.

Dlamini told reporters that the players were prepared for the competition and confident of securing a podium finish. The technical team travelling with the squad includes coach Mbuso Vilakati, assistant coach Themba Sifundza, team manager Mathokoza Gama and physical trainer Mpendulo Mhlanga.
The team is travelling with a clean bill of health except for centre blocker Nonduduzo Nxumalo, who is recovering from a minor ankle knock. Dlamini reminded supporters that the Sunrise Ladies were crowned champions in Durban in 2018 and said they are aiming to reclaim that title in this year’s tournament.
